Binding Bike – Bicycle that can be bent
Kevin Scott, a final year product design student at DeMontfort University in Leicester (UK), has created a very special sport bike . This product has the ability to “wrap” the bodywork around a street light without any disassembly. The design received a lot of positive feedback from both students and professors, because in the current “golden inch” era, Kevin’s car will help save a lot of space .
The principle of this bike is encapsulated in the system of gears and cables of the frame, allowing it to change shape at any time. However, the most important point in the design is that although the frame can be bent, it still has to ensure the necessary certainty like other normal bicycles.
This bike design brought Kevin Scott the second prize in the “New Design of the Year” category with a prize of 500 pounds (equivalent to 16 million VND). The work is currently on display at the New Designers exhibition at the Business Design Center in Islington, north London .
Shift – balance bike
The introduction of Shift can be good news for those who are not interested in learning to ride a bike due to fear of… falling. By looking at the shape, you can also guess how the Shift is easier to ride than regular cars.
The wheel is specially designed, which can help people who are just learning to walk easily to balance when starting at a very slow speed. This will somewhat eliminate the initial fear and avoid trauma.
The special feature of this design lies in the pair of rear wheels. When standing still or walking slowly, these two wheels will expand, creating a solid tripod position. When accelerating, these two wheels gradually come together in contact with the ground, creating the feeling of a regular bicycle . This unique product has brought the trio of designers Scott Shim, Ryan Lightbody and Matt Grossman the first prize at the international bicycle design competition in Taiwan.
Dekra-D Drive – chainless bike
If anyone has been attached to his school years with his “iron horse”, you will have tragic – funny memories of losing the chain, getting your shirt dirty because of car oil, and then being late for school. However, this will soon disappear in the very near future by the introduction of the Dekra-D Drive sports bike .
Replacing the chain in the Dekra-D Drive is a special type of drive shaft, which can send force from the pedal to the rear wheel. In addition, the car is also equipped with a specially improved 3-speed starter kit provided by manufacturer Shimano, making it easy to conquer steep slopes. Other parts of the car such as steering wheel, shock absorber … are also greatly improved, in order to give the rider the most comfortable feeling. The only problem that makes this car not popular is the price of 300 USD (equivalent to 6 million VND). Hopefully in the future, this price will drop and Dekra-D Drive will appear more on the street.
T20 – bamboo electric bike
If you are looking for a safe, fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly means of transportation, the T20 may be the solution you want. Currently, the T20 is only showing a prototype molded by French designer Antoine Fritsch .
The reason, says T20 is a car close to nature because the material that makes up the chassis is bamboo. Therefore, the car is very light but looks very “quality”. Of course, in addition to the frame made from bamboo, a few other parts of the car such as the engine, the wheels … are made from other materials such as aluminum, steel, wood and rubber.
Another huge plus for the T20’s natural protection is that the electric motor used to operate the vehicle is installed in the footrest of the user. With a full charge, the T20 can reach a maximum speed of 40km / h and travel a distance of about 40 km.
The operation of the T20 electric bike is also very interesting. First, you have to push the T20 like two-wheeled baby strollers. When the appropriate speed is reached, the electric motor does the rest. Currently, we do not have any information about the price or when the T20 will be officially produced.
